New Horizons Launches India Franchise Initiative; Global Leader Teams with India's Noted Shriram Group to Offer World-Class IT Training

New Horizons Computer Learning Centers announced it will extend its industry-leading worldwide information technology (IT) training network with the planned opening of 100 new centers in India.

New Horizons has signed an agreement with Shriram Global Technologies and Education, a Shriram Group company, to launch New Horizons Computer Learning Centers in the rapidly growing Indian market.

"New Horizons is committed to successfully establishing and maintaining a presence in India," said Tom Bresnan, president and CEO, New Horizons Computer Learning Centers. "This partnership is a major milestone in our continued strategic international growth and by working with Shriram, New Horizons is poised to become the leading IT training provider in the country," he added.

New Horizons will deliver training solutions that answer increasing domestic and international demands for quality IT professionals from India. "The Indian IT training market is currently estimated around $400 million (U.S.) and is likely to double over the next five years," said Ajay Kumar Sharma, director, Shriram Global Technologies and Education.

Excluding Japan, India has 60% o the Asia Pacific region's IT workers and has become the world's leading supplier of outsourced IT labor, according to published reports from industry analyst firm IDC Research. The region has seen a boom in IT sector growth even during the global downturn.

For example, IDC estimates the number of professional developers in India in 2001 at roughly 450,000, second in Asia only to Japan which had 563,100 developers. IDC forecasts that India will overtake Japan in number of developers by the end of 2002.

The first New Horizons Computer Learning Center of India will open by October 2002 in New Delhi and a total of 10 centers are planned by the end of 2002. Sharma estimates 100 centers will be in operation within a three-year period.

New Horizons offers a broad range of application, technical, developer and professional skills training courses for all levels of computer users. Training is provided through multiple methods including classroom instruction and eLearning.

Through the company's Integrated Learning model, each instructional method is enhanced by a wide range of products and services that reinforce, support and validate the transfer of knowledge and skills to students, as well as providing administrative tools to training managers.

"Shriram Global Technologies and Education sees tremendous scope in the IT training sector," said Sukanya Bharat Ram, wholetime director, Shriram Global Technologies and Education. "We will be making a significant investment to set up a national network of New Horizons Computer Learning Centers to deliver world-class learning skills for personal and organizational success."

New Horizons Computer Learning Centers was named the world's largest IT training company by IDC in 2002. New Horizons is a subsidiary of New Horizons Worldwide Inc. Through its Integrated Learning offering, New Horizons provides customer-focused computer training choices with a wide variety of tools and resources that reinforce the learning experience.
